Styled By: Me was a third year university project which I showcased at my university's degree show. The premise was to showcase various people of the LGBT+ community through photography and fashion. I wanted to make everyone feel welcome regardless of what they looked like, and that they didn't have to follow a stereotype that's commonly found on media (with that being said, it's also perfectly fine to want to fit that also). This is where the name "Styled By: Me" came from, as typically in fashion magazines a stylist and make up artist is credited for the look. However in this case, everyone is choosing their own style and appearance, so it's literally styled by them.
Using particularly the brown and black version of the rainbow flag was a specific choice to also get this message across, as well as keeping the zine mostly monochrome aside from the rainbow flag motif and the images themselves, as they are what should stand out the most.
